As the next-best wing behind AJ Dybantsa and Caleb Wilson in this year's class, Nate Ament truly is the mystery man when it comes to where he could end up. Many around the league fully anticipate the Tennessee star being a top 10 pick, with the Bucks' reported interest in him constantly discussed, but where he ends up will shape how the first round plays out.

There is continued speculation that if Brown is off the board, the Nets could seriously pass on Wagler and take Ament at No. 6, a guy they've been linked to for weeks, with multiple sources over the weekend continuing to say what we've reported multiple times leading up to the draft — that the Nets hold real interest in Ament.

Ament has also drawn interest from both the Dallas Mavericks and Milwaukee Bucks inside the top 10, as well as the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have been attempting to package their 12th and 17th picks in the draft to move up into the top 10.

Rival teams expect that Mara and Ament are their top two targets for the Thunder in such a scenario. After trading Wiggins to Atlanta on Sunday night, it makes sense that the Thunder would want to find another young wing like Ament to spend time developing behind the scenes on a rookie contract.

Fresh off of bringing Michigan its first national championship since 1989, Dusty May has shocked the basketball world by agreeing to become the next head coach of the Dallas Mavericks. One of college basketball’s most prolific winners of the 2020s, May has gone an impressive 124-26 over the last four seasons, which includes last year’s title-winning team and a 2023 Final Four run with Florida Atlantic.

Less than two years removed from trading Luka Doncic to the Lakers, the Mavericks now appear to be fully committing to a new era under May and new General Manager Masai Ujiri. As a former college coach known for his world-class player development skills and a GM known for his excellent drafting ability during his time with the Raptors, the pair are well-equipped to put together a new young core in Dallas led by Cooper Flagg.

Trade season has officially begun, and the 2025 Champs are already making moves. Let’s break it down.

Hawks Receive: Aaron Wiggins

Thunder Receives: 2030 2nd Round Pick, 2032 2nd Round Pick (Worst of ATL and LAL)

Why Atlanta said yes: After re-signing CJ McCollum to a 1-year $21 million contract, the Hawks appear to be committed to running back last year’s squad that made impressive strides down the stretch of the season. Wiggins will be an immediate plug-and-play contributor in Atlanta, who can replace some of the floor spacing the Hawks lost at last year’s deadline when they traded Luke Kennard and Vit Krejci. For just two second-round picks, this is a great deal for an effective role player making less than $10 million a season over the next three years.

Why Oklahoma City said yes: A five-year veteran in OKC, Wiggins appears to be the team’s first cap casualty, as the Thunder look to make space for the monster Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams extensions that are kicking in next season. While he averaged nearly 22 minutes per game last season, Wiggins saw his minutes cut significantly after the midseason arrival of Jared McCain, and he was a relative non-factor during the Thunder’s Conference Finals run. With a loaded guard room and multiple picks in this year’s draft, it makes sense that Wiggins is the player OKC decided to cash in on first.

The Boston Celtics were largely billed as the team to beat in the East entering each of the last two postseasons, but both times they exited in the second round. There is a growing debate regarding the cause of these disappointing outcomes. Many highlight the squad's dependence on 3-point shooting, while others believe the roster is simply not good enough to contend for another championship.

No matter where people landed on this argument, one thing initially seemed clear: Jaylen Brown is part of the solution. Now that a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade is becoming a realistic scenario, No. 7 may no longer be a vital part of the blueprint.
